The Technion Chooses MasterDAM as its Digital Archive Management Solution

The Public Relations and Resource Development Division of The Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, chooses MasterDAM software by IDEA Information Systems as its advanced digital archive management software.

The mission of the Public Relations and Resource Development Division is to promote relationships with and secure resources from the global community of Technion societies, individual donors, foundations, and other organizations, as well as to enhance Technion’s reputation and visibility as one of the leading science and technology universities worldwide.

The division manages a variety of documents as well as valuable physical photos of events, donors, associations, journals and more. All of these are at risk of weathering and loss and are now carefully preserved in a climate control room that regulates temperature and humidity in accordance with the international standard. The division decided to digitize the items and use the MasterDAM system to integrate them into an advanced digital archive.

The division was looking for an innovative Digital Asset Management platform for central storage and management of all digital assets and their sharing to create an advanced digital archive. The MasterDAM system will allow the division to keep all of their digital assets in one central and secure place, significantly shorten the search time for their assets, and share and distribute them easily and securely inside The Technion or to the public.

Through a smart asset versioning control mechanism, users or the public will have access according to their permissions, only to the most updated file’s versions. Thus, the division will prevent incorrect usage of files and copyright infringement. Also, the system will prevent the need to recreate lost file versions.
