The Ghetto Fighters House Chooses MasterDAM as its Digital Video Library Management System

The Ghetto Fighters’ House Museum named after Yitzhak Katznelson for the heritage of the Holocaust and the Uprising, chooses the MasterDAM software from IDEA Information Systems to manage the museum’s digital video library.

The Ghetto Fighters’ House – Itzhak Katzenelson Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Heritage Museum– known as the “House”, is not only the first Holocaust museum in the world but also the first of its kind to be founded by Holocaust survivors.

The archive of the Ghetto Fighters House was founded in the early days of the kibbutz, with the establishment of the museum. Kibbutz members began collecting certificates, photographs and documents to document the days of the Holocaust and the communities that were destroyed. The work of collecting and sorting was viewed by the kibbutz members as carrying out the Last Will and Testament of those who perished, and a direct continuation of documentation work done in the ghettos.

Various items are stored in the archive: letters, certificates, diaries, testimonies, films, photographs, exhibits, art pieces and more. The archive’s film collection has grown greatly over the years due to the digitization processes that the materials have undergone.

The archive was looking for an advanced dedicated tool for managing digital assets in general and films in particular, in order to manage, share and expose the wealth of the video library to researchers, research institutes and anyone interested in the subject.

The MasterDAM system will make it possible to manage the collection in a central place, provide editing services and share the assets with the users securely and according to their permissions. The system will simplify and speed the search for digital assets as well as their sharing and distribution inside and outside the organization.

In the near future, the system will also allow the integration of subtitles, the ability to reach directly to a desired point within the video and to cut video segments.
